About the Library:
The library is a chief instrument for using various types of knowledge by the users. Libraries are concerned with the entire spectrum of knowledge. Libraries in general and public libraries, in particular,
have a very important part of society and developed a country. A library that is an integral part of a University, College, or other institution of post-secondary education administered to meet the information and research need of its students, faculty, and staff. Throughout the world, the Library of a College is considered as part and parcel of the academic set-up. It is created and maintained to serve and support the educational activities of the college. Education and the Library are the two sides of the knowledge society. Without one another one is almost meaningless. Libraries are acting as a catalyst to fulfill the pre-stated objectives of education in general, which all again,
helps to build an advanced civilization.
Dr. Gour Mohan Roy College Library
Dr.
Gour Mohan Roy was founded in 1986 and began in 1986. For a long time,
Monteswar's education enthusiasts have been dreaming of setting up a
college in Monteswar to meet the region's growing demand for higher
education. Mr. Kalachand Roy (Son of Late Dr. Gour Mohan Roy, a famous
doctor in Barabazar, Kolkata), a philanthropist in Monteswar and a
benevolent businessman in Calcutta proposed his land, architecture
Things, furniture, and money donate donations to make a dream come true.
His sincere efforts and cooperation with social builders have spawned
what is known as "Dr. Gour Mohan Roy College." The college was established in 1986 to meet the academic and research needs of faculty,
students, and non-teaching staff, but the library has not been built since the college's inception. Indeed, the necessity of the library has been felt at the beginning of the College and the first systematic library was started in 1987. Now at present, the library has got the formal shape as a systematic and organized library. The College Library contains around 17,000 books. Every student must keep their books in good condition for the benefit of all other students. If someone destroys or mutilates a library book, they must be paid appropriately. Dr. Gour Mohan Roy College Library provides a variety of information resources and services via a website that the library designs, runs, distributes, and maintains.

- Duration: Normal College hours on all working days except Sundays & Holidays.
- Membership: All regular students of this College are eligible for the membership.
- How to be a member: By producing a College Identity card along with a money receipt regular
students can prepare the library card from the library. - Duration of membership: For an academic session only. Students must renew their library cards for the next academic session, as they have to surrender their cards & borrowed books at the time of form fill up prior to University Exam (Library Clearance mandatory).
